Frequently Asked Questions
Permissions & Privacy
Does ShotClean upload my photos?
No. ShotClean runs entirely on-device and never uploads any photos or personal data. All processing is done locally on your device.
Why does ShotClean need storage permission?
ShotClean needs to read your gallery to identify screenshot files. Without this permission, the app cannot function.
Usage
Why weren't my screenshots automatically archived?
Please check the following:
- Whether media access permission has been granted
- Whether media management permission has been enabled
- Whether the archive storage directory has been set and is accessible
- Whether aggressive battery-saving settings are enabled on the device (these may prevent background tasks from running)
I can still see pictures in my gallery after archiving?
Make sure media management permission has been granted correctly. If the permission is correct but the issue persists, the gallery app's cache may not have refreshed yet — wait a moment or restart the gallery app.
I accidentally deleted an important screenshot. What should I do?
Within the archive retention period (30 days by default), go to the "Archive" tab, find the screenshot, and restore it. It's recommended to check the archive regularly to avoid important screenshots being permanently deleted after expiration.
Why weren't some screenshots recognized?
Possible reasons:
- The screenshot was saved in a non-standard directory
- The file extension was modified
- The image metadata was altered by a third-party app
